Best Walking Tour in Charleston, SC I booked with Jwalk Tours based on the reviews. I read at least 40 and there is nothing but GREAT things to say about Jwalk, and now I know they were not wrong. You cannot delete bad reviews, so if there are none, this is a solid company. Johnathan is the owner and your tour guide, and he was easy on the ears and enjoyable to listen to. He draws you into his world as if you were living there when the cannon was going off.We went on 1/17/25 at 10 am. It was a cold morning, and we lucked out and had a private tour, which made the tour even more enjoyable. He let us all know he encourages us to ask questions, but he asks that we wait until we break, and now I know why. For almost every question we wanted to ask, the answers were already coming within 12 minutes. I tried to think of questions he had never received before, and they were all answered in due time. I laughed, the pace was perfect, and with so many stops to learn something new, there was no real need for a traditional break.
You also meet up at a coffee shop beforehand, which is nice if you want to fuel up or have something warm in your hands when it is 40 degrees out. He is very knowledgeable, and we had an amazing time. We have already referred him to other guests from our hotel, Meeting Street Inn, which was also amazing.

Wonderful tour This was by far the best tour I have been on. If you are in Charleston I highly recommend this tour. Jonathan sure knows Charleston, a very gifted story teller and a wealth of information. You will not be disappointed.

Super Tour 11/12/24. Nine people on the walking tour. Very informative, very personable, never rushed us. Actually got an extra 1/2 hour. Did three carriage tours before but would recommend this one over them. I would highly recommend this tour. Harry and Terry.

BadAss Women of Charleston walking tour was fabulous! We fully enjoyed our tour with Jonathan! Jonathan knows Charleston history and culture extremely well - both the good and the bad. He was well prepared with amazing and touching stories of women's positive impact on Charleston. We learned a lot!

Fab tour guide Jay Jay was a fabulous tour guide, passionate about Charleston history, funny/punny and entertaining.We’d love to do the historical badass women’s tour. Sadly, our stay was not long enough.

Excellent walk in Charleston Jonathan gave an excellent tour. He provided a lot of insights into the city of Charleston. He was showing the highlights and was compassionate about the city. It was wonderful meeting Mildred the Gullah basket lady, seeing the location of the oldest theater in the United States, and learning about the history of the city good and bad.
He made an excellent reservation for lunch as well the Blind Tiger.

Take the tour with Johnathan. If you want a detailed account of Charleston history with a since of humor, as well, this is your tour. This guide is so dedicated to the history of this fine city, he is writing a book. This is one of the best guides and tours I have ever attended.

Amazing Charleston Tour! Jonathon did an amazing tour! We loved his insight and history of Charleston that he shared. And really appreciate the smaller tour size and interaction with had with Jonathon and others in the tour this morning.

What a GREAT Time!!! My wife and I spent the morning with Jonathan of JWalk Tours. The tour was great! Jonathan was incredibly knowledgeable of Charleston’s history, he had a sense of humor and he kept us engaged. Maybe most importantly, he was passionate about his city. We are so glad we chose JWalk Tours!!!

Best walking tour in Charleston This was one of the most interesting, educational and fascinating walking tours. The tour guide Jonathan is a light hearted easy going extremely knowledgeable history buff. He is a cross between a long time local and a college professor. You learn many historic facts and gain the colorful stories that makes Charleston very special and important in America history.

JWalk Tours is a GREAT way to meet the city!! My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary away from the kids in Charleston for the first time and one of our favorite activites from the whole trip was the walking tour by JWalk Tours! We started the trip with the tour so that we would have a better idea of what we were looking at as we enjoyed our time in the city and that was defintiely a good move. We were excited about the depth of knowledge of the guide and the outstanding story telling which helped bring everything to life and make it more relevant. We were trying to decide between the carriage tours and another walking tour. We are VERY glad that we settled on JWalk! Highly recommend!

Wonderful tour Great tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston. Walk was at a nice pace. It was a very hot day and guide made sure to find shade to stand in when he was giving the history of various buildings. Stay45341063523

A Great Tour with Knowledgeable Tour Guide John the owner of this company as well as our tour guide was very professional and quite knowledgeable at each stop during our tour. The pace and distance of the tour stops was just as described and also very reasonable for the warm & humid Charleston weather.

The Badass Broads Tour is a true gem! The tour was terrific. I not only learned about several amazing women, but gained a ton of knowledge about Charleston as well. Two hours flew by. It is obvious how much Jonathan loves the city and sharing the stories of those who helped make it what is but don't get the recognition they deserve. He covers the good and the bad and the architecture. He was thoughtful and considerate of his guests (finding places to stop to talk which also had places to sit). This was my favorite activity in Charleston and well worth the ticket price. I will highly recommend his tours to everyone!!

Thumbs way up from Canada! There were four of us on the tour this morning. This was a highly memorable experience for two reasons: Jonathan is a superb educator, full of humor and energy, sharing his ample knowledge of the history, geography and culture of his city; and even above that, we spent two hours with an individual who wears his deep passion for all that is Charleston on his sleeve. Two thumbs up from Heather and Rob (which makes four thumbs up).

WELL WORTH YOUR TIME!!!!! Jonathan's wealth of knowledge of the history of Charleston is second to none! He's a great story-teller (of all truths, I'm sure) and he made the whole walk enjoyable, entertaining, and most of all informative! He's obviously passionate about Charleston history and shared the good (and some bad) about the past here. I now know so much more about this city I've recently decided to make my home!!
